Our Policy Work
nurtureuk is committed to ensuring every child is able to engage with education and no child is left behind. We work to break cycles of low achievement and tackle social exclusion by ensuring that an unequal start in life does not mean an unequal chance to engage with learning. We want every disadvantaged or disengaged child to have access to a nurturing intervention to equip them with the skills and resilience they need to make the most of learning and school.
Our policy team work towards our goal by raising awareness of nurture with politicians and policy-makers across the nations of the UK, presenting the strong academic evidence of the positive outcomes of nurture and demonstrating how nurture groups, nurturing schools and use of the Boxall Profile can tackle some of the biggest issues in education and social exclusion today.
We campaign for more nurture groups and nurturing schools, increased use of the Boxall Profile to better understand the pupil’s wellbeing and behavioural needs, as well as on wider issues like the importance of including child development and attachment theory in teacher training programmes, on social exclusion and early intervention. We are a strong voice for our members and for every child, family and teacher in schools in the UK.
