Dr Marianne Coleman
Dr Marianne Coleman is an Emeritus Reader in Educational Leadership at the Institute of Education, University of London. Prior to her retirement she served as Assistant Dean of Research. Her research interests lie in educational leadership, with a particular interest in leadership and diversity and she has an outstanding record of funded research and publications relating to gender and leadership. Prior to the Institute of Education she worked at the University of Leicester and in both universities has had a strong record of supervising research students at doctoral and masters levels. She has also taken part in comparative research projects with international partners, working in China, South Africa and Singapore. Prior to her career in higher education, she worked in the advisory service of a local authority and as a comprehensive school teacher. She is married with two adult sons and three young grandsons and continues to research and publish.
A lifelong interest in equity and social justice fuels her interest in nurture groups. As a trustee of nurtureuk she aims to contribute to the growth and dissemination of the body of research and publications exploring the work and effectiveness of nurture groups.
