Kate is currently the General Secretary of the Association of Educational Psychologists and has had close links with nurtureuk and the Nurture Group Network for many years. Whilst working within the Educational Psychology Service in Lancashire for many years she helped to set up and oversee the running of 2 classic nurture groups as well as developing a Lancashire wide nurturing strategy and network. The latter involved the delivery of training for nurture groups and for nurturing schools – the highlight of the training programmes was the presentation given by Marion Bennathan at Park Primary School in Colne. Marion surprised everyone there by maintaining that her family had run a fruit and veg stall on Colne Market!
As a keen supporter of the nurture principles and values Kate has attended a number of nurtureuk summer schools where she delivered workshops on the development and importance of play within nurture. She has also spoken in support of nurture groups and nurturing schools when lobbying MPs and peers on children’s issues.
Kate is delighted to have been appointed a trustee for nurtureuk and is looking forward to being part of the trustee team and helping to support the next stages in the development of the organisation so that many more children and young people benefit from being nurtured within their schools.
