Nicola Hannam has over 15 years of experience working for membership charities in the science sector, having studied physics at the University of Manchester. After starting her career running projects for schools and young people, she progressed to education policy before taking on more management and governance responsibilities. In recent years, she led a programme of work to encourage greater diversity in the science workforce and promote equality and inclusion. A cause close to her heart having studied a male dominated subject and coming from the first generation of her family to attend higher education.
In 2015, Nicola completed a Masters in Voluntary Sector Management from Cass Business School, which furthered her interest in the charity sector. She is currently a self-employed consultant delivering strategy advice, project management and impact evaluation for charitable grant-giving foundations, as well as, consultancy for diversity and inclusion projects.
Nicola is driven by a belief in the importance of equality of opportunity and social mobility. She believes that emotional wellbeing and resilience are just as important as education and qualifications, and that a supportive and nurturing environment is vital for young people to fulfil their potential both in terms of career and their happiness and wellbeing.
She looks after her own wellbeing by gardening with the help of her dog.
