Kent Violence Reduction Programme

In the Kent VRU programme we are working with 9 schools. The programme has been specifically designed to enable them to support families affected by, or at risk of being affected by, violence in their communities.

Schools will have access to a series of nurturing solutions, including the whole school National Nurturing Schools Programme, resources, bespoke consultancy support and the Nurturing Parents/ Carers and Families Programme, consisting of online training and downloadable resources, is designed to enable teachers and staff to facilitate relationship building between school and home and to develop knowledge around attachment and nurturing for parents.

Further programmes on Transition and Nurturing in the Community will support the work that schools are doing beyond the school gates. It also aims to create a shared understanding of approaches that will support higher student self-esteem and parental confidence and engagement in their young people's school experience.

Schools will also have the opportunity to attend our monthly networking events with guest speakers and experts to help them on their nurturing journey and give them the chance to share good practice.

“Being on this programme and taking part in the staff training has made it apparent how much of an issue we had. It’s made it possible to address needs. Particularly around youth violence and drugs. It has given us a lot more knowledge and contacts. The resources are phenomenal and the training has really highlighted further the importance of the mindset that no one ‘chooses’ this. The Network meetings are amazing.”
