London Violence Reduction Programme

We are working with 36 schools, across 15 boroughs as part of the London VRU programme. Primary, Secondary, Alternative Provision and Further Education settings are all included in the project and each have their own particular areas of challenge and focus.

The programme includes bespoke consultancy support to help them develop a whole school nurturing approach, free subscription and training on our social, and emotional development assessment tool, the Boxall Profile® Online, places on our three day Theory and Practice of Nurture Groups accredited course, opportunities to take part in our monthly networking events with guest speakers and experts, copies of many of our publications and ongoing support when they need it.

“The Big Creative Academy is pleased to be part of the Nurture project as part of our commitment to students' wellbeing. Education is not just about academic achievement it’s about educating the whole person with a focus on their emotional growth and emotional awareness. The project will provide the staff team with a better understanding of how adverse childhood experiences have impacted on some of our young people at the academy and will further develop our understanding of how trauma and attachment manifests in the classroom and at home. It  will support our work with students in the development of  bespoke nurturing sessions,  a parents wellbeing programme and working with the wider community to provide a safe, nurturing environment to help our young people to become resilient, reflective and how to build positive relationships.

As we always say to our young people, your difficult lives are not a justification to fail, they are the very reason you must succeed, this project will give them and us the tool kit to make that happen.”
