Indya joined nurtureuk as a Programme Coordinator for the Nurture the North East programme in November 2025, supporting over 140 schools in their nurturing journey.
Indya has a social sciences background, with a focus on intersectional inclusion and equality, and experience working across a range of charities focused on improving the chances for children to thrive. Motivated by her lived experiences and advocacy work around SEN, she saw the importance of SEMH needs and how crucial a nurturing approach can be in supporting children to have the best possible start.
In her free time, Indya enjoys all things music, writing, social and cultural studies, and gaming.
What does Nurture mean to you?
A nurturing approach gives children a safe space to learn through empathy and understanding, encouraging growth, while also providing invaluable skills and tools useful beyond the classroom. Nurture champions inclusion and equality, combatting educational marginalisation and inequalities by providing strong support, backed by neuroscience and research, that gives every child the chance to thrive.
What do you enjoy about working at nurtureuk?
This role brings together so many things that are close to my heart: emotional wellbeing, inclusion, and practical, values-driven change in education. The team itself is nurturing, warm, supportive and inspiring, and I’m really proud to be part of helping to support schools to adopt nurture-based practices while capturing the real-world impact in education.
