Course overview

This course develops your school’s nurture practice by training practitioners to deliver evidence-based nurture interventions and/or establish a nurture group.  Nurturing interventions replace missing early attachment experiences for children and young people, so that they can develop positive relationships with both teachers/peers in a supportive environment.

What will I learn?

You will learn about the theoretical framework underpinning nurture groups and nurturing approaches, including the Six Principles of Nurture and the Boxall Profile® . This course focuses on how this theory translates to good practice and you will be given examples of nurturing interventions from different settings.

Assessment and certificates

After attending all three full days of training, delegates are invited to submit an assignment within twelve months of completing the programme.

The course is accredited by Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF) and includes an evaluation graded at Level 8.

Eligibility

This is for schools enrolled on Cohort 4 of the Surrey Nurturing Schools Programme. We recommend attendance from practitioners, classroom teachers/support staff.
