Course Overview
The Solihull Nurturing Schools Programme is an 18-month training programme being funded by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to develop and embed a whole school nurturing approach, building on your setting’s existing practice.
This programme is valued at £3,000 per school and is being offered to you free of charge.
It supports Quality First Teaching and Learning and promotes healthy outcomes for children and young people, focusing on emotional needs and development alongside academic learning in a whole-school environment.
Who is it for?
For schools and settings in Solihull committed to developing an inclusive ethos and culture.
This programme is designed for two delegates per school/setting. One must be a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team.
There are a maximum of 6 schools in each group to ensure good levels of interaction and support.
Course Structure:
The first three modules are live group sessions delivered over the length of a month:
- Module One introduces the whole-school approach, the Nurture Principles and the Boxall Profile®
- Module Two focuses upon the rationale for the programme including a consideration of attachment theory and neuroscience
- Module Three looks at the NNSP standards and areas of development
At 4 months and 8 months into the programme, you will then have group sessions to support your progress of the schools and identify areas for development.
At 12 months into the programme, you will be able to book a 1:1 session tailored to the needs of your school.
Resources to Support Learning
Each school will be sent the following printed publications ahead of the first module, tailored to their setting (primary or secondary):
- Boxall Profile: Whole Class Strategies x1
- Planner x 2
- Workbook and inserts x 2
In addition, schools will be able to access online resources, including:
- 2 years’ subscription to the Boxall Profile® Online (valued at £650-£1,800)
- “Introduction to the Boxall Profile” webinar for 12 members of staff (valued at £360)
- Access to Thinkific, our online learning platform
- 400 credits to order from a menu of options (valued at £400).
National Nurturing Schools Award
Once schools have completed the training programme, they will be supported to apply for the National Nurturing Schools Award, valid for 3 years.
This award is evidence of a school’s success in embedding a nurturing culture. It can be used to promote the schools’ achievements in creating an inclusive learning environment to school inspectors, as well as to current and prospective parents and carers.
Schools will be sent a certificate and plaque if awarded.
